After several sets of plans to renovate this property by external contractors failed to fulfil the needs of this client, a new outdoor entertaining area featuring timber built-in seating, a generously sized open-plan kitchen and dining space, plus study, laundry, family room, children’s rooms and master suite were created to maximise functionality.
Achieving a good floor plan was critical to creating a home with no imposed boundaries as was selecting a strong signature colour to tether the rooms that was neutral enough to accommodate rich tonal injections.
Walls are predominantly painted a saturated charcoal grey, whilst slate floors line the laundry and kitchen areas. Crisp white shutters and window frames plus hard domestic surfaces brighten this matte finish which is additionally lifted by the spritzing of orange highlights, literally ushered in by the tangerine front door. Warmly inviting the sunshine in, it also appears in the upholstered dining chairs, lounge cushions, graphically patterned ottoman and geometric bedroom wallpaper.
“Lynne has given us the confidence to step out of our comfort zone and try different colours, textures, fabrics, materials and design ideas. Her clarity on what the space requires for the best outcome is inspirational and invigorating. Not only is Lynne a talented designer, she is well connected in the building industry and knows how to manage trades people to get the best out of them. I would not hesitate to recommend Lynne to anyone for any type of interior design project."
