The Sonata Project Collaboration
The Internationally acclaimed Australian pianist, Bernadette Harvey, sought Lynne’s expertise in set and stage design to manage the production of her inaugural Sonata Project. This elaborate performance event took place in November 2017 before a full house within the Sydney Conservatorium’s iconic Verbrugghen Hall.
Designed to capture the opulence and excitement of intimate 19th Century European music salons where great musicians launched new work, Lynne sensitively orchestrated the stage décor to inspire and provoke emotive journeys that evolved with each of the four sonatas performed by Bernadette. Uniquely crafted furniture and innovative props by leading interior companies (including Designer Rugs, Zuster, StylecraftHOME and Koskela) together with compelling floral arrangements by Myra Perez from My Violet were framed by immersive paintings created by the artist Lara Merrett.
In addition to sourcing, commissioning and styling all stage props, Lynne also collaborated with the photographer, Craig Wall, to create mesmerising promotional images of Bernadette in which she was dressed in whimsical designs by cult Australian fashion label, Romance Was Born (these costumes were also worn on the performance night).
