NORTHCOTE is a Federation residence on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, reimagined for modern family life while honouring its heritage soul. Colour and texture is the thread that binds old and new, heritage and contemporary, light and materiality.

Living spaces are bathed in soft, natural tones, enhancing light and highlighting original features such as leadlight windows and ornate plasterwork. Subtle tonal shifts define rooms and transitions without interrupting the home’s rhythm, supporting a seamless dialogue between historic and new architecture.

Richer, grounded tones layer depth and texture into bathrooms, powder rooms, and joinery, creating moments of quiet luxury. Accent shades thread through cabinetry and detailing, reinforcing cohesion and elevating everyday gestures into refined, tactile experiences.

Every selection is deliberate. The palette was guided by light, proportion, and materiality, ensuring heritage features are celebrated while contemporary interventions read with clarity and restraint. Neutrals provide grounding, richer tones punctuate, and the interplay of both creates a layered, considered elegance.

The result is a home that feels timeless, purposeful and generous. Heritage is honoured, modern additions feel seamless, and colour unites material, light, and space into a quietly sophisticated whole. NORTHCOTE is not just a residence, it is a study in balance and a home where past and present converse in layered, nuanced harmony.
