In Sydney’s north-west, Lynne Bradley Interiors has redefined a penthouse apartment into a refined, design-led sanctuary. What was once a standard developer fit-out has been transformed into Terranox - a soulful, contemporary home that reflects the nuanced beauty of the Australian landscape and the discerning lifestyle of its owners.
Drawing inspiration from a recent journey to Western Australia’s Kimberley region, the design embraces the rugged elegance of the outback. A rich, earthy palette - dusty ochres, eucalyptus greens, creamy oatmeals, vivid golds, and deep onyx - becomes the foundation for a curated selection of First Nations art. These tones echo the pindan soil, weathered cliffs, and the ever-changing interplay of shadow and light in the Australian bush.
From its position on the 19th floor of a curved architectural tower, the apartment boasts soaring ceilings, sweeping treetop views, and abundant natural light. This light moves fluidly through the space, animating textures and highlighting thoughtful detailing throughout the day.
Natural materials ground the home in warmth and tactility: oak flooring, Australian timber joinery, veined marbles, and handcrafted stone surfaces. Custom designed curved cabinetry made by local artisans, mirrors the soft undulations of the terrain, adding an organic rhythm to the interiors. In the living room, an ochre-hued velvet sofa anchors the space, while the main bedroom is defined by a bespoke upholstered bedhead with gentle, sculpted edges.
Every room pays homage to natural motifs and traditional Aboriginal patterns. In the bedroom, a snakeskin-textured wallpaper creates a cocooning effect; in the living area, a dot-patterned rug nods to classic desert art. Raised, pebble-like tiles bring quiet tactility to the bathrooms, while a custom tile work adds personality and craftsmanship to the kitchen.
Balancing softness with structure, heritage with modernity, Terranox is a residence designed not only to reflect the landscape but to endure with it. Named in tribute to the earth - terra - and the volcanic stone - onyx - that shaped its vision, the home is a testament to longevity, inspiration, and deeply personal design.
